Trains to and from Wellington International Airport (WLG)

Wellington Airport is not directly connected to the Wellington railway station. The travel time between the railway station and the airport is around 30 minutes, depending on traffic. You can get there using several modes of transportation, such as taxis, rideshares, and public buses.

For instance, you can take the Airport Express to get from the airport to the train station in Wellington. Daily service is provided between Wellington Station and the airport via Lambton Quay and Kilbirnie.

Express Bus Service at Wellington Airport

Every day of the week, the Airport Express bus service connects the Wellington Airport and the Wellington Railway Station at predetermined times that correspond with flight and train arrivals and departures.

Except for the first few morning and evening services, these electric buses frequently run for about 30 minutes throughout the day.

The average time it takes to get from the train station to the airport is 25 to 35 minutes, but this can vary significantly due to traffic.

You can pay with a Snapper card, cash, contactless debit, or credit card. Snapper Card users will pay $7.51, while cash and contactless payment users will pay $9.50. Off-peak travel is free for SuperGold cardholders and Veterans (weekdays, 9am – 3pm and after 6.30pm, weekends, and public holidays).
